Learners get glimpse into the future at career expo

Ladies Ministry at Lutheran church host a career expo for learners.

Exploring the vast landscape of careers can be daunting for learners, especially those in matric. However, the journey can be a little easier thanks to the Ladies Ministry committee at the West Rand Lutheran Community Church.

On Saturday, August 17, the Ladies Ministry team hosted a comprehensive and insightful career expo designed to inspire and guide learners about their diverse career paths.

A dynamic team of experts from diverse fields, including aviation, science, law and human resources, all shared valuable knowledge and experience with the curious learners. The experts also shared information such as high school subjects and university requirements, and they also lifted a curtain on what a typical day looks like, providing a realistic glimpse into their world.

“This is our first time hosting a career expo, and we expected about 100 to 150 learners today. This is a very significant milestone for us. It is about children’s growth and youth development. We want to be intentional and have a profound impact on the lives of our beloved children,” says Busisiwe Mabalane, a member of the ministry.

The ministry is a women empowerment group based at the church that comes together to encourage each other with a range of issues that affect them as women, and they also do fitness sessions together. This day also granted an opportunity to entrepreneurs from the church to showcase their businesses.
