Lighthouse School hosts Honeydew police for Child Protection Week

Officers from Honeydew police paid a friendly visit to Lighthouse School in Wilgeheuwel.

Lighthouse School had the privilege of welcoming officers from the Honeydew Police Station during Child Protection Week.

According to Delia Hendrikz, owner of Lighthouse School, the officers were incredible with the children, teaching them about safety, how to contact the police, the emergency number, and showing them that the police are there to help, as many children fear the police.

“It is important to teach our children that they won’t be locked up for being naughty, as some might innocently say without realising the implications. Instead, the police are there to help and protect them,” she says.

The officers even went as far as showing the children their police cars and turning on the sirens.

“All the officers were friendly, kind, happy, and fun, showering the children so much love. The children had the best time, and the energy was high for the rest of the day. Thank you to the Honeydew Police Station for visiting us with great big smiles on your faces.”
