Little citizens celebrate Elections Day with mock vote

Crawford learners embrace South Africa's right to vote.

Crawford International Ruimsig invited their Grade 0 learners to cast their first-ever ‘vote’ and celebrate Elections Day.

As South Africa gears up for the national elections this week, the learners have been experiencing the excitement of Election Day in their own special way.

This opportunity grants every South African citizen who registered to vote, the power to own his/ her own vote and choose to vote for his/ her preferred political party. South Africans have a chance to place individuals who will represent and be their voice in portfolios or departments of preference.

Earlier this week the learners participated in a fun and educational mock election, learning about the importance of voting and making their voices heard. Crawford learner cast their first votes with enthusiasm and big smiles, choosing their favourite treats.

According to the school’s marketing manager, Lindsay van Boven, this exercise helped learners understand the democratic process and the significance of each individual’s vote.

“The school is excited to see our young learners embracing this experience with such joy and curiosity,” Lindsay added.

Crawford is pleased to play a part in fostering a future generation of informed and active voters through their learners.
