Florida North Swimming Pool now open

Florida North Swimming Pool is now open for use after having a billing issue with a nearby billboard company.

After having electricity issues for about a year, the Florida North Swimming Pool has officially opened its doors to the public.

The pool was closed last year in February after having an electricity account mix-up with a nearby billboard company, which led to City Power cutting off the electricity supply to both the billboard and the swimming pool.

“Fortunately this issue was eventually resolved and the pool is now open to the public again. I encourage the community to take care of the facility and use it responsibly and thoughtfully,” says Ward 70 Clr Caleb Finn.

Florida North Community Forum chairperson Moaaz Areff has welcomed the reopening of the pool stating that residents can use it safely.

“We welcome the reopening of the Florida North Swimming Pool. However, it must be noted that due to the lack of maintenance, the pool’s opening was delayed for the summer season.

“We hope that going forward maintenance is done periodically to ensure that residents and especially the youth have a place to cool off during the hot summer days. Many times we saw lots of kids walking to the pool looking forward to using it. We are glad that residents now have the opportunity to use it,” said Areff.
