Time has flown by for principal Clarence Gordon Jennings, who welcomed his grandson, Caden, into Grade One at Agape Christian Primary School back in 2013.
Now, in 2024, he proudly watches Caden prepare for his final examinations as he completes his matric year.
When Clarence thinks back on Caden’s early years, he remembers a young child who was very good at athletics and put a lot of effort into getting good grades. Caden, according to his grandfather, has developed into a hardworking and resolute young man throughout the years, exemplifying the principles that Agape has taught its learners. A major milestone for Agape’s first-generation learners, who have attended the school since Grade One, the recent matric dance was both a joyous occasion and a sombre farewell.
During the matric dance, Clarence urged Caden and his classmates to explore God’s plan for their lives and to pursue success in all endeavours with honesty and trust. He expressed his wish that the lessons they learned about Christian character at Agape would serve as a foundation and a guide for them as they move on in life.
“Caden will be using his first year to attend a leadership camp where I am sure he will get a clearer picture of what he wants his future to look like,” Clarence explains.
Reflecting on Caden’s growth, his grandfather expresses both pride and optimism.
“Caden has worked very hard, and I’m confident that the foundation Agape provided will support him as he steps into adulthood, the teachings here are not just about academics; they’re about building character and faith,” he adds.
For him, watching Caden’s journey has been a blend of professional pride and personal joy. As the Agape community says goodbye to a cohort that has grown up within its walls, Clarence feels a renewed commitment to guiding young minds and hearts. And as Caden steps forward, he carries with him the legacy of his grandfather’s faith, encouragement, and the values he learned at Agape.
