Fun times at Roodepoort Sentrum vir Berjaardes

Roodepoort Sentrum vir Bejaarders turns 50 and celebrates the arrival of spring in style.

The Roodepoort Sentrum Vir Berjaardes was recently transformed into a vibrant hub of joy and laughter as elderly residents and their loved ones gathered to celebrate spring.

This event was also tailored to bring delight and entertainment to the esteemed seniors, and it was also a celebration of 50 years for the centre.

The festival brought an array of activities, such as a fun hat competition, potjiekos, braai, a variety of stalls and nostalgic music that honoured and pampered the elderly.

According to Jolene Peyper, manager of the home, families and friends of the elders were highly involved in organising and ensuring that the event was a success.

“Elders usually spend most of their time indoors. With this event, we wanted to take them out of their rooms and do something different that would entertain them.

“The catering department was also dressed to kill in their traditional attire,” Jolene said.

Jolene thanked all the families and all the members of the community who donated and contributed towards the event and Stephan Schoombie won the hat competition.
