The power of public speaking at Toastmasters

Honeydew Toastmasters hosted their weekly meeting of informative discussions where members and guests explored the theme of authenticity.

The recent Honeydew Toastmasters meeting hosted at Blueberry Hill Hotel was a success, with members and guests enjoying an evening of inspiring speeches, engaging discussions and personal growth.

The weekly meetings aim to improve public speaking abilities as well as be a platform where they can receive constructive feedback and learn from others.

The theme of the evening was authenticity, and participants rose to the challenge with prepared and unprepared speeches that left a lasting impact. Tongesai Mashongwa expertly led the meeting as the Toastmaster, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for all.

The evening’s role players included Lorenzo Jefferies as Grammarian, Aiden Eksteen as Uhms Counter and Ntombi Mphahlele as Table Topics Master, who all added depth and value to the meeting.

The speech evaluators provided constructive feedback to help members improve their delivery style and speech content. The Unique Listener’s Minute role, led by Siphokazi Captein, encouraged active listening and thoughtful questioning.

“The meeting was productive and showed public speaking and the supportive community that Toastmasters provides. We encourage residents to join the club if they would like to develop their communication skills and connect with like-minded individuals,” said club president Musa Mnguni.
