Help Michelle recover from stroke

Back a buddy: Friends and family to help Michelle overcome stroke.

Friends and family of Michelle Gregorowski have started a BackaBuddy campaign to support her after a month-long hospitalisation.

Michelle, a 42-year-old working mom of two boys, has faced immense challenges in recent years. Despite her struggles, she always puts others first and has a strong helping hand.

She escaped an emotionally abusive marriage and had to start afresh. She gave up her home of eight years, and she had to find her own feet by getting a new job.

However, stress took a devastating toll on her, and on August 6, she collapsed at work and suffered a major stroke.

“Michelle was rushed to Netcare Olivedale Hospital and doctors administered her and put her on emergency medication to dissolve the blood clots causing the stroke.

”However, without medical aid, she was transferred to Helen Joseph Hospital in Roodepoort. Despite numerous tests and doctor visits, the cause of her recurring blood clots is unknown.

“Scans have revealed multiple clots in her leg and a large one in her neck, and she recently had a surgical removal for that,” said one of her friends, Annerien Snyman.

Annerien also mentioned they are mostly worried about her two boys, who are top achievers both in sports and academics, having been left unattended and her previous medical expenses.

“We started this campaign to help reduce her stress and ensure her children’s well-being, including school fees, living expenses and home maintenance. She will also require speech therapy and physiotherapy to recover her mobility.”

The BackaBuddy campaign seeks help for Michelle’s recovery – any donation, big or small, will be gratefully appreciated.
