The First Discovery Scouts celebrated one of their own at a very special ceremony in July.
The First Discovery Scout Hall in Bird Street was abuzz with activity as scouts and parents descended on the hall for the capping ceremony of 18-year-old Timothy Slabbert, who was to receive his Springbok Award – the highest award achievable by scouts in South Africa.
As is fitting, the evening consisted of a huge campfire, where scouts and parents gathered to sing songs and socialise before the handing over of the award to Tim, who had put in years of hard work in anticipation of this goal.
