Welcome warm blankies for Just in Time

Just in Time Baby Sanctuary was one of the deserving recipients of the #CaxtonCares Blanket Drive.

The Just in Time Baby Sanctuary in Discovery not only provides a safe and stable home to the children in their care but also saves lives through their Baby Saver Box, where desperate mothers can leave their babies knowing that they will be safe and looked after when they are surrendered.

Owner Georgina Caetano is one of the foremost local voices in favour of baby saver boxes, which have in recent years become a subject of much debate.

“We do not in any way condone child abandonment,” Georgina said. “But the fact is that some mothers caught in desperate circumstances opt to abandon their babies.

“We would rather provide mothers the opportunity to ensure their babies are safe and looked after through our Baby Saver.”

The sanctuary was one of the pre-identified recipients of the #CaxtonCares initiative, which this year, consisted of a blanket drive.

Journalists from the Roodepoort Record and Roodepoort Northsider, along with editor Adele Bloem, and representatives from the FullFlame Life Church, a significant contributor to the blanket drive, visited the sanctuary, where Georgina explained to the visitors how the organisation goes about saving babies and looking after those children placed in their care.

“Apart from our regular donors, our sanctuary is entirely self-funded,” she said.

“For me, my staff, and the volunteers that help us, this is a labour of love.”

Georgina expressed her thanks for the welcome donation of warm blankets for her children.

The occasion was blessed with a prayer from FullFlame Life Church outreach team member Clint Still.
