Christmas in July treat for children in need

Clearwater HOG hosts St Laurence Children's Haven for an X-mas in July treat.

Christmas joy arrived a little earlier this year for the delighted children of St Laurence Children’s Haven.

On Saturday, July 20, the members of the Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Owners Riding Group (HOG) Clearwater Chapter opened their hearts and arms to host the children for an unforgettable day of fun, games and gifts.

About 26 children were escorted by the Harley riders from their haven in Discovery to the Gnu Kids playground in Muldersdrift.

The excitement on the children’s faces was priceless as they arrived in style and were being treated to a day of fun, games and personalised Santa Box from the chapter members.

According to Brenda Whitedes, a charity officer, this is a cause very close to their hearts, and they have this event three times a year where they bless and entertain children from any charity organisation for a day.

“Our chapter members donated cash for the kids’ needs and bought presents for them so that they could be spoiled today,” she said.

The St Laurence Children’s Haven has been a beacon of hope for children since 2001 and has taken care of more than 2 500 children from all walks of life.
