Learners giddy up for growth

The Earth Centre welcomed Adelaide Tambo School for the Physically Challenged for a unique physiotherapy programme featuring horse therapy.

The Earth Centre, a haven for holistic learning and growth, recently hosted learners from Adelaide Tambo School for the Physically Challenged on Tuesday, July 23.

The centre’s weekly initiative aims to promote mobility, balance and confidence in participants through the gentle guidance of trained horses. Under the supervision of the South African Riding for the Disabled Association instructor, Adele Brown, and volunteers, the learners engaged in a series of fun and interactive exercises designed to stimulate their senses and challenge their physical abilities.

“Since we started going to the Earth Centre three years ago, it has helped them with strength, mobility and muscular flexibility.

“The learners are walking better and their balance has improved,” Claudinah added.

Head instructor Angie Michna told the Roodepoort Northsider that the centre will continue to be a hub for schools to carry on providing the learners with physical education and creative skills to improve their minds and bodies.
