Church blessing day a paw-some success

Horison Methodist Church hosted a pet blessing day aimed at celebrating the special bond between humans and their furry friends.

The Horison Methodist Church of South Africa opened its doors to a heartwarming pet blessing day that brought together the congregation and members of the community along with their four-legged companions.

The church believes that pets are more than just pets but are beloved members of families and friends, and they need to be recognised spiritually as well.

This event, which took place on July 13, was also a fundraiser for the church’s needs.

As the pets and owners came in, they were greeted with warmth and kindness, and Revered Kim Alexander bestowed a blessing upon the beloved pets and presented a special certificate to commemorate and honour this day.

“It was an amazing morning spent blessing pets and although there were not many that came we were still able to raise over R2 000 much-needed funds which will go a long way towards our many ministry needs.

“We certainly would love to do it again later in the year. Those that attended left feeling grateful and just loved the idea,” said Vanessa Kilina, who is part of the church’s administration.
