Three decades of excellence

Curro Wilgeheuwel honours their most devoted employee for their diligence and commitment to the school.

Facilities manager Joseph Mulaudzi of Curro Wilgeheuwel was rewarded for his 30 years of service at an event at Curro Head Office in Durbanville, Cape Town.

Joseph is originally from Makhado in Limpopo and came to Gauteng at the age of 18. His journey started when he was first employed at Curro Aurora in 1994, where his drive to work hard first took root.

Joseph endured financial difficulties that prevented him from fulfilling his goal of becoming a journalist, which resulted in him taking the job to provide for himself and his family.

Following his departure from Curro Aurora as a gardener and being involved in domestic work, he soon joined the facilities manager’s staff as an assistant. After 10 years of devoted service, he was promoted to this position, and his duties expanded to include key management, school openings and closings, and property security.

“I always tell myself that when an opportunity is presented to you, take it both hands, because you never know where that journey will lead you. This new opportunity granted me a new challenge and the chance to learn as I grow,” Joseph says.

Joseph’s confidence and abilities blossomed under the direction of multiple managers. He remembers how one boss in particular, Helgard Muller, advanced him to a new level and had a significant impact on his development.

Curro celebrated Joseph’s 30 years and awarded him for his excellence and loyalty. A heartfelt speech from Curro’s executive head Oriol Morgan and CEO Cobus Loubser highlighted his achievements and humble soul, which endeared him to everyone at the school.

“I am overjoyed with this award because it also shows the staff I work with that starting somewhere can get you to reach your end goal. I know that what I teach them will benefit them in the long run,” Joseph adds.

His legacy at Curro continues to inspire the staff he works alongside to remain dedicated to their work and always remain humble.
