Community works together to end racial bullying

Law enforcement partners with NPOs to resolve racial issues in the community.

The police, in collaboration with the Ipeleng Cares Foundation NPC, invited the community of Fleurhof to engage on the rising issues of bullying and threats taking place in the community.

According to the founder of the foundation, Ipeleng Mofokeng, the organisation was contacted by one of the residents who was growing concerned about racial bullying taking place in the community.

“Our primary objective is to ensure community cohesion and safe environments that are free of violence and abuse, so we work closely with the police and religious bodies to help solve these issues,” she added.

The police attended the meeting on June 19 to teach residents about the Integrate, Crime, Violence, and Prevention Strategy, the seriousness of bullying, and where one should go once they feel bullied.

“We find it necessary to teach the community about bullying and how this matter is serious; this is the primary step that we need to take as law enforcement before it escalates into other high-profile cases,” says Colonel Amos Tsotetsi.

Their anti-bullying campaign has already been running for years, with outreach programmes in the community.

The foundation assists schools and communities with safety and peacekeeping. They raise awareness about bullying in the interest of parents and children and are often called out to do peace promotion talks with the Florida police and Florida Divine Intervention.
