This morning, May 29, one person lost their life after an accident occurred at the Corlette and Chaucer Avenue intersection at 10:40 between a light motor vehicle and a motorcycle.
The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) attended the scene and information was given that the driver of a Hyundai Atos was travelling west on Chaucer when the driver entered the road and collided with the motorcycle, which was travelling south on Corlett Avenue.
“The Atos driver, who was travelling with another male passenger, were both rushed to Leratong Hospital after sustaining serious injuries.
“Unfortunately, the young motorcycle driver died at the scene,” said JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla.
Fihla added that a case of culpable homicide will be registered at Roodepoort Police Station for further investigation and would like to acknowledge the efforts of community action groups to secure the scene and help in the aftermath of the tragic accident.
