Lions hold annual Buddy Day

The Helderkruin Lions Club held their annual Buddy Day at La Salle College.

The Helderkruin Lions Club held their annual Buddy Day at La Salle College in Discovery on Saturday, April 27.

The event consisted of various fun and exciting games and activities played by disabled guests, and their able-bodied counterparts, known for the day as the Buddies.

The Buddies were drawn from various local schools and were very attentive to the needs of their guests.

Zunhle Chiriseri, Kamogelo Moedi and Sbahle Cele.

Each guest was teamed up with a Buddy for the day. The Buddies that they were included in all the activities.

As always, the various Lions Clubs pitched in on the day. Participating clubs included the Alberton Lions, Clearwater Cyber Lions, Fourways, Wilropark, Krugersdorp, Northcliff, Weltevreden Park, and The Wilds Lions Clubs.

Rusty Hustler from the Helderkruin Lions, who has served as a ranger with the North West Parks Board for years, also brought with him Wally the Rhino, a life-size statue of a rhino, to teach the participants about this unique endangered species.
