Local music school performs for a good cause

Students of the Kirsty Morar Music School put on a concert to raise funds for Gideon's Animal Rescue at Rusty Hook.

The music school Kirsty Morar Music, held a concert in aid of Gideon’s Animal Outreach at Rusty Hook on March 9.

The concert featured nine of the school’s students, who showed what they had learned not only in song but also in performance.

Neil Swanepoel was the first act to grace the stage.

Students performed a wide selection of music ranging from pop to folk to an appreciative crowd.

According to music teacher Kirsty Morar, she is extremely proud of her students who all worked hard to prepare for the concert.

“For many of my students, this was their first time on a stage and in front of an audience. Most people do not realise the amount of courage it takes to stand in the spotlight and play in front of a live audience.

Jennifer Temkin showcased her strong voice and stage performance.

“My students can be proud of themselves for delivering wonderful performances tonight.”

Gideon Morar, the owner of Gideon’s Animal Outreach and Kirsty’s husband, took to the stage first, telling the gathered crowd about his work in animal rescue, education, and advocacy, and thanking Kirsty, her students, and the crowd for their support of this worthwhile cause.

Each of the students put up an impressive performance before Kirsty herself graced the stage and shared a few songs.

Sav Govender captivated the audience with her sultry voice.
