Navigating the youth to better pastures
A local author shares experiences that shaped her faith in humanity.
Spirituality has always been a sacred practice known to show how small acts of kindness, care, concern, and love can motivate a person and turn their life around.
For author Europa Naidoo, embarking on new endeavours was a perfect opportunity for her to shed light on how her journey allowed can touch the lives of people and give them hope.
At a young age, facing a lot of challenges in her hometown of Shoba Shobane, Izingloweni in KZN, political violence was a serious issue in her community. She then started writing her novel in December 2019 not only as a fundraising venture but also to bring positivity to communities by doing things with love instead of ranting and raving.
She currently resides in Weltervreden Park and would like to share her novel with the community in hopes that it would bring a positive impact.
The name of the novel is titled the (SAI) Spirit of Humanity which is her first novel and an autobiography of factual events and experiences. In her book, she mentions how she is involved in community, schooling, family, and the Christmas Day Shoba Shobane Massacre. She also mentions her work in the children’s and youth desk in violent and torn rural communities on the lower south coast.
Sai is a short pun for South African Indian and Sai devotee. In the book, she highlights prejudice, discrimination, and racism showing that no matter what race, ethnicity, nationality, or religion you are, let the spirit of humanity always prevail. Her focus is to assist with something towards the schools and training center she and her late husband were trying to venture into.
“We must not be tolerant of the differences between us and not inflict barriers or have demarcated areas for race, ethnicity, nationality, religion or politics,” Europa added.
Her message to the youth is to always give it your best by having faith in yourself no matter what obstacles you face in life.
