Community asked to help local orphanage with much-needed supplies

With the community's help, Siyabonga Dorah's Ark can keep doing the work they were meant to do.

The Methodist Church in the Roodepoort Circuit has extended a helping hand to Siyabonga Dorah’s Ark with much-needed donations.

“We did this because we would like the children to enjoy their Christmas like everyone during this time of the year,” said Barry Dhlamini, a member of the church.

He explained that Dorah’s Ark is not only a home for abused and abandoned children but also a home for the children who live there as well as a walk-in soup kitchen for those in need in Roodepoort, Matholesville and Durban Deep. He added since the passing of the owner of the orphanage, things have been rather difficult as some of their sponsors have pulled out.

He noted they need daily food supplies, toiletries and much-needed building maintenance.

“All of this is done so that we can help Dorah’s Ark get their word out there and the work they are doing for the community. We believe that together the church; businesses, public and private, the community, and individuals can help places like Dorah’s Ark and the others to do what they are called and purposed for and our world will be a better place,” concluded Barry.
