Residents ask community to help find their missing four-legged friend

The missing German shepherd and pit bull cross named Duiwel went missing in Witpoortjie after Christmas.

The community is urged to help find residents’ furry friend that went missing on December 28 from Generaal Pienaar Avenue.

Sonja Wolmarans said, “With everything in me, I just want to find my big boy. We are grieving immensely for him.”

Duiwel is a 10-year-old brown male German shepherd and pit bull cross with brown eyes. He is not neutered nor chipped and he does not have a collar.

Sonja explained they are new to the area and noticed the gate of the house they are renting had just opened. She continued on the 28th when her husband went to give the dogs food, he noticed the gate was open. They then found their female German shepherd across the road at the park, however Duiwel was nowhere to be found.

She noted: “We have searched the entire Witpoortjie, Mindalore, and Chamdor areas where we walked and drove up and down the streets looking for him. We even took our other dog with us to see if she caught his scent, but nothing. I have posted everywhere on social media and I send out messages every day, but still nothing.”

She added due to his age his hind legs and hips have deteriorated, so they don’t know how far he could have walked.

“If someone has him and at least he has food and water, I don’t know. But I am so worried that he might be alone and has gone a week with no food or water, he would then be fragile by now,” Sonja concluded.

If anyone has seen him, please phone Sonja on 076 190 3698.
