Lions Club sells Christmas cakes to fund their community projects

All the proceeds go directly to the club's community service projects.

The Lions Club is selling Lions Christmas cakes to raise funds for their community projects.

Sandy van Heerden, from the club, said: “Not only are the cakes delicious but they also make great gifts for family, friends, and neighbours as well as teachers and colleagues at work!”

She explained every year Lions from around South Africa sell cakes and said ‘all of the profits from these cakes help to fund our Lions Community Service Projects’.

She added the projects included their five pillars of service including vision, hunger alleviation, diabetes awareness, childhood cancer and environmental projects. They also do youth projects like handing out stationery, school shoes and socks to students. They also hand out Lions dignity bags for girls’. She explained every month they hand out sanitary pads to 50 girls so they don’t have to miss a day of school.

They also help with disaster and humanitarian needs through the Lions International Foundation.

“Our motto is simply ‘We Serve’ and you can make a difference by supporting our projects!” concluded Sandy.
