Weltevredenpark author debuts second novel, The Priest and the Gondolier

Weltevredenpark-based author shares news about his second novel as well as his third in the works.

Mervyn Nel, a local author who had his first novel published in 2021 named Theft from Delos, is excited to unveil his next novel, The Priest and the Gondolier this year.

Nel graduated from the University of Johannesburg with a National Diploma in Personnel Management and Industrial Psychology. He has since become a full-time South African author who, after the successful publication of his first novel, left the corporate world to pursue his passion for writing.

Mervyn claims to have written multiple articles for mainstream magazines as well as short tales, plays, and poetry for learners in grades 2-12 between 2005 and 2012.

He is in the process of submitting his third novel, Postcard from Maribor to Literary Agents in the UK and USA, exclaimed the author.

He believes The Priest and the Gondolier is destined to be a literary classic.
“The Priest and the Gondolier will take your imagination on a fascinating journey through the beautiful city of Venice,” he elaborated.

The author will guide you through its intricate lanes and canals, letting you see the real “La Serenissima” or as stated in his own words, a means to experience Venice from a perspective that is anything but ordinary.

When he is not writing, Mervyn takes pleasure in being out in nature or enjoying time with his two beloved cats in his garden in Weltevreden Park, the place he calls home.
