Honeydew Equestrian Centre hosts dressage training show

Honeydew-based equestrian centre hosts dressage training show.

A local equestrian centre hosted a training show on October 29 to help teach novice riders all about the specific riding category the show covers, which was dressage. The riders had to wear their formal riding wear and ensure their, and their horse’s, posture and gait were perfect during their turn in the arena.

Riders read out the different moves and gaits they had to accomplish while keeping their horses calm and focused on the task at hand. The training shows help build confidence as well as give the riders constructive feedback that they can take to their trainers and work on for the next show.

Dressage is sometimes referred to as a mastery of art and obedience as well as a test of patience as both rider and horse need to work together to navigate the tricky metaphorical path laid out before them.
