Call for sanitary towel donations to keep a girl child in school

Ogle Foundation calls on the community to donate any brand of sanitary towels to maintain the dignity of the girl child and empower them by keeping them in school.

Empowering the girl child to stay in school during ‘that time of the month’ means offering them the dignity they deserve.

It is thus the Ogle Foundation’s mission to restore this dignity through a call for sanitary towels.

According to Patty Ogle, founder of the foundation, feminine hygiene is an important element for the girl child, and without this, it is hard for them to go to school or perform daily tasks comfortably.

“Imagine being on your period and not having the proper sanitary towels to wear. It’s uncomfortable, stressful – not something any girl should experience,” she said.

Through her foundation, Ogle aims to eradicate this ongoing plight once and for all, hence this call to action for government, businesses, and NPOs to step in to restore the dignity of girls.

Ogle also shared her background and cited that while she came from a home with both parents, the only problem was that she was always told that she was not smart enough and was treated differently from her now late young sister.

“Pads, can I say I didn’t even know existed. I remember using socks, newspapers, old t-shirts – whatever I could find. For days I would not be able to walk after newspapers bruised me and no one understood or cared to ask or help,” she said.

“I would not want another girl to go through that – it’s very painful. Hence the ongoing pads campaign,” she continued.

Should anyone be in a position to assist by donating pads in any brand, reach out to Patty on 076 313 2247 to arrange for delivery or collection.
