The Irish Rock Women’s Club hosts a day of fun and games

The club held a potjiekos competition in support of Fred and Martie's Soup Kitchen along with a blood drive and raffles.

The Irish Rock Women’s Club had a blood drive as well as a potjiekos competition and raffles, all to raise funds for a good cause.

On October 14 many came together to enjoy good food, music, and games at the Irish Rock Restaurant and Pub. The potjiekos competition helped raise funds for Fred and Martie’s Soup Kitchen. Megan Adriaanzen, the chairperson for the club, noted that 13 teams entered the competition with the winners being ‘Life Behind Bars’. The judges for the day were two chefs from Steyn’s Culinary School.

Steve Walls, who entertained the crowd, and Jason Kennedy who donated the ice cream.

They also handed out prizes for the team with the best team spirit as well as the one with the best stand, while Steve Walls entertained the crowd for the whole day.

They also had a blood drive and a launch of the Community Joker Jackpot.

“It was a very successful blood drive with 56 pints of blood being donated. We did ‘A pint for a pint’ with a difference – If you donated a pint of blood you received a pint tub of Magnum ice cream that was donated by Jason Kennedy from Teak Ice Ola,” said Megan.

She stated the first draw for the jackpot will be on October 24 at the Irish Rock Radiokop, she added there is also a jackpot running at the Irish Rock Little Falls.

A Bokke-inspired cake was also was also up for the taking in the raffle competition.
