Florida Blockwatch hosts first-ever fun run

Community members came together to take part in the run in support of fitness and community.

The Florida Blockwatch team came together with the community to host their first fun run.

On September 30, the community gathered at Hoërskool Florida to take part in the run. There were four different races including a 2km, 4km, 10km, and a 5×2 relay race, some of the runners even competed in all of them. There were also market stalls.

To add to the special event, Andre Brink from the Blockwatch even made medals for every runner. They were all made from wood, as to also help the environment.

He stated: “We are doing this because we care about the community as well as nature and not only security.”

Wim Schönfeldt, Treasurer for Florida Blockwatch explained all the events took place within the premises and they had a water stop for all the runners. To help out were EC Security, Help 24 and ConMed.
