Local school achieve great success in cricket league

For the second year in a row, Lantern School's cricket team walks away from the champions.

Lantern School wins cricket league for the second year in a row.

This year and last year, the school’s cricket team walked away the winners of the league.

Brendan Bell, Zameer Suleman, Waylin Fortuin and Jaco Mitton.

“This is indeed a wonderful experience as hard work went in to coach these learners,” said Jaco Mitton, their coach.

During the season one of the players, Waylin Fortuin, U16, competed in the Gauteng Lions Extraordinary Education Cricket trials and was chosen for the Gauteng Lions Extraordinary Education Cricket team. They are set to compete in the Learners with Special Education Needs (LSEN) Cricket Week that takes place in George during the upcoming school holiday.

The team’s coaches also achieved high success, Brendan Bell was selected to be part of the Gauteng Cricket Team management as Assistant Team manager, and Jaco Mitton was selected as a LSEN SA Selector.
