Local school says goodbye to one of their teachers

The King’s School Discovery celebrates the life of one of their teachers who has passed away.

The King’s School Discovery mourns the loss of one of their teachers.

The King’s School Discovery has always considered themselves family. As a school, they pride themselves on the fact that they stand together, celebrate together and cry together.
“Unfortunately, our family is one member smaller since a dear teacher passed away on Sunday, September 10,” a statement from the school reads.

Teacher Zanele Anna Hadebe has been an employee since 2004 when she started as a cleaner. She impressed management so much that she was promoted to teacher’s assistant. Her warm and pure love for the Grade R’s made her a teacher who cannot be replaced and she had so many little ones come through her hands. There was always time for a hug, a big smile and a funny joke.

“Teacher Anna was a soft-spoken woman with a deep commitment and love for Jesus Christ and she was a woman of faith who set the standard for young teachers who came through our doors. Teacher Anna will be missed dearly by families of Jubilee Christian School and The King’s School Discovery – we lost a wonderful family member who has been part of our lives for almost 20 years.”

One of her colleagues Cathy Segenhout added, “Anna joined the staff in 2004. Her daughter, Gugu started with her in Grade R. Anna was as quiet as a mouse in those early years, reserved and humble, always willing to serve. She loved God, and lived this out in her everyday life.”

Her colleague Happy Mutembwa said, “Anna’s life was a blessing to us, her memory will always remain in our hearts. We are deeply saddened by this loss but also grateful for the times we had together. We will always remember the positive impact she had on our lives. Cherish the memories we’ve shared, the lessons we have learnt from her, and moments of laughter. May her spirit live in our hearts and souls. Rest in peace beloved friend. You are gone but not forgotten.”

The school’s principal André Berrangé concluded, “Teacher Anna will be missed dearly. She was an amazing woman, so selfless, so pure I love her and always will. She had played a big role in my life. She’s taught me so much. She will forever be in my heart.”

A memorial service was held on September 15 at the school to honour the life of this beloved teacher.
