Florida car enthusiast building a Bavarian dream for Beemer lovers

Faizel Rustin is heading up the organising committee for BeemerFest 2023 to be held in Delmas in November.

Since his youth, a man has dreamt of a palace honouring the famous grill.

All petrol-heads have their identifiers but one word ignites the inner petroleum more than the formal three letters. ‘Beemer’ is a culture, not just a brand, but elevates the Bavarian beauties to that highest pedestal of motoring iconography. Realising that dream, Faizel Rustin is the head of the organising committee of a year-end celebration of everything BMW, called BeemerFest.

Due to be hosted at Red Star Raceway on November 26, almost 40 automotive companies from in and around Gauteng have jumped on board. BeemerFest will bring together enthusiasts, racers, tuners and automobile wizards for a weekend of alcohol-free petroleum passion. Giving drivers the chance to mingle with the creators of style, BeemerFest will centre around track events while being supplemented but the static showboating.

“We want to revitalise motorsport by taking racing off the street and into a controlled legal environment. It will be completely interactive with time trials, drag races and skid pan for Beemer drivers,” said Faizel. Elaborating on his love of BMW, Faizel said, “I was born into it. My dad owned a 2002 and it was the love of his life. My first car was a Beemer and it will be my last car.”

Leading up to the November event, Faizel and organisers will hold a charity drive centred around school children either drawing their favourite BMW or mimicking the sound. For the adults, partnering workshops are assembling custom Beemer to be gifted to one lucky attendee.

“I want to make the dreams of someone come true, someone who will love the car.”

Led by his love of the Beemer community, Faizel is building that home for four-wheeled worshippers.
