Call for owners of lost dog found in Georginia

A lost wolfhound mix breed has been found wandering in Georginia and calls for information about the whereabouts of its owners.

Jascey Beukes discovered a missing wolfhound mix breed dog on August 30 and has since been attempting to locate the dog’s owners.

According to Jascey, who found the dog around 07:15, the furry friend is black and grey with a wired hair coat and ‘has some interesting characteristics’.

“She does not bark at all, only howls – a characteristic typical of wolfhounds. She is an older dog and seems to have slight cataracts, about 10 years or so,” Jascey stated.

Jascey also stated that the dog is not too steady on her feet, but still attempts to run and jump around, and is slightly overweight and well-groomed, which makes Jascey almost sure that the dog has owners.

“She seems to have had a haircut recently but was found with blackjacks. She seemed very tired and confused when we found her,” Jascey continued.

Jascey reiterated the story of how she came about the animal and said that she had to run back to get some food, but when she came back outside, the dog was gone, and said, “I continued to look for the dog after coming home, but with no luck.

“Then at around 19:00 that evening, my brother called to say that he’d seen her up Ibsen Street and she’d been wandering in our area all day. We managed to coax her with some treats. We took her home and posted on Facebook groups, Instagram, community WhatsApp chats and WhatsApp statuses.

“We took a walk around the neighbourhood, venturing onto Albertina Sisulu Road and even the CBD. No one recognised her. We also called the Roodepoort/ Krugersdorp SPCA to enquire if they had any calls and they had none. We didn’t want to just leave her in a cage there, so we’ve been having her at home since then.

“Some days she attempts to make a run for it but doesn’t know where she’s going. She’s a picky eater, has gaps in her teeth, and gets very happy to see us. She seems happy, eating well and such, seems like she’s not neutered though,” Jascey elaborated.

She is a medium-sized girl and weighs about 25kgs. If anyone has information about the owners, contact Jascey on 065 965 8951.
