Johannesburg West District honours top performers with a luncheon

Circuit 4 town schools’ top performing learners in the class of 2023 were honoured during a luncheon held at Hoërskool Florida recently.

A motivational day on August 10 for matriculants from about seven town schools within the Johannesburg West District’s Circuit 4 saw top performers for the third term being honoured with a lunch to celebrate their hard work and discipline.

The awards were held at Hoërskool Florida and saw the class of 2023 from schools such as Princess High School, Hoërskool Florida, Florida Park High School, Hoërskool Die Adelaar, Westridge High School, Hoërskool Roodepoort and Allen Glen High School being awarded certificates for their outstanding achievements.

The luncheon took place at Hoerskool Florida’s school hall.

The awards honoured matriculants with an average of 75% and above, and apart from learners who met this requirement, two out of 21 learners from Hoërskool Florida stood out as they had achieved an average of over 90%. Another noteworthy achievement was from Florida Park High, with its two, white blazered Cum Laude girls Cassidy Jackson and Lesego Lestie, who had managed to maintain an average of 80% since Grade Eight.

The theme of this term was “the final push matric support” led by Johannesburg West District director Lehlohonolo Ramokhaose who encouraged learners to confidently follow their dreams without fear or criticism.

Johannesburg West District director, Lehlohonolo Ramokhoase urged learners that passing matric is a personal choice and motivated them to always be the best in what they do.

“Success is no accident and hard work is often the starting point on this journey. The solution is always found at your desk – stick to that desk, even during the cold times when you do not feel the need to wake up in the mornings,” Ramokhaose urged learners.

This event aimed to offer the matric class a platform where they are celebrated and recognised for their hard work and to facilitate information sessions to guide them towards opportunities after matric.

Present for the event were district officials from Circuit 1 and Circuit 4, education specialists and support directors, as well as institutional support and development officials.
