Local hip hop dancer graces the international stage in Phoenix for the world champs!

Jacey Clark, a Grade Eight learner at Crawford Ruimsig, was selected to represent South Africa in Phoenix, Arizona for the Hip Hop International World Championship along with the rest of the SA team.

According to the school, Jacey competed in the Varsity Crew, JV Mega Crews, and Empire Crew divisions.

The competition kicked off last week (August 2). Lindsay van Boven from the school said that having danced with Mario Gomes Hip Hop Dance Academy since she was just four years old, Jacey’s no stranger to international competitions.

“She has competed twice internationally in Croatia and Portugal. This Hip Hop International competition will have over 55 countries participating and is considered the foremost authority in Hip Hop and Street Dance,” she added.

It’s a significant moment for the South African team as Mario Gomes takes the reins as director of the team.

Lindsay added that Jacey participated in the Hip Hip International Gauteng Dance Championships on April 26 and, because of her outstanding achievements, the placements qualified her for the South African Dance Championship and World Qualifier.

Jacey received first place in the Varsity Crew Division Championship and another first place in the JV Mega Crews Championship.
