Crawfordians give their opinions on why we celebrate Women’s Day

Learners at Crawford Ruimsig spoke about why women play such an important role in society.

The primary school learners at Crawford International Ruimsig gave their opinions on why we celebrate Women’s Day. Here are a few of their answers:

Nonhlanha Mdakane wrote, “We celebrate Women’s Day to honour the women of the past, without them we would not be where we are today.”

Ronewa Nemalvonde explained, “Women went through very hard tribulations in the past so that we can go to school and have rights.”

Khanyisile Mosepele said, “We celebrate women because they fought for our rights.”

Megan Palmer wrote, “I believe we celebrate Women’s Day because in the past women weren’t allowed to vote or get an education.”

Lerato Nkisi exclaimed, “Women are powerful! We celebrate women because without them where would the world be?”

Hayley Magqabi stated, “Women’s Day is there to remind us what women have fought for, for so long. Women are strong.”
