Ruimsig learner a maths whizz

Mathematics learner goes through to the final round of the Olympiad.

Crawfordian Jason de Kock qualified for the third and final round of The Old Mutual South African Mathematics Olympiad.

According to Lindsay van Boven, this is a truly remarkable achievement, as only the top 100 learners who took part in the second round qualify for the third round.

“What makes this achievement stand out, even more, is that students from over 850 schools – most of these in South Africa and a few in neighbouring countries – participated in the second round in the hope of qualifying for the third round,” she exclaimed.

“Jason wrote the third round last week and we trust he enjoyed engaging with and solving the complex and challenging problems that are posed in this final round of the Olympiad,” Lindsay concluded.
