Davidsonville Library hosts schools with Johannesburg Zoo Expo

Johannesburg Zoo showed a variety of animals to two Davidsonville nursery schools and children were excited as they got to experience a live spotted owl.

Children from Kingdom Kids Nursey School and Busy Beez Nursery School were thrilled as they got the opportunity to have the Johannesburg Zoo brought to them as part of Davidsonville Library’s mandate to promote a knowledgeable culture.

Beula Jones, who is the branch librarian for the library said that the zoo visited the library recently to have an expo for the children to learn ab about zoo animals and said that it is a marketing project to inform the public that the library is open and operating.

About 28 children from Kingdom Kids Nursery School and about 15 children from Busy Beez Nursery School – both based in Davidsonville – were present and excited about the animals that they would see and interact with.

When asked which animals he loves and why, five-year-old Alex Nkosi, a boy from Busy Beez Nursery School shared that he loves lions, tigers, and cheetahs ‘which live in the jungle’ and that he also loves owls and is very excited about the expo.

Themba Nxumalo, who is an environmental education facilitator presented the expo alongside colleague Jane Rampou, were also very excited as the children asked many questions and the session was very interactive and informative.

Tiagen Meintjies (5) from Kingdom Kids shared her excitement when she was asked what she learned from the experience and cited that she learnt about the animals and that her favorite animal is a lion.

The day ended and all present parties received a take-away package.
