Panorama Primary School celebrate the end of the exam period with a release of colour

A small pre-holiday celebration before the real July holiday rewards.

As a post-exam celebration, Panorama Primary School released some colourful pressure, on June 9.

Learners were dared to don all-white and take on a custom-designed obstacle course while teachers hovered nearby to get a little revenge of their own. The entire learner body was split into bases from where the groups would set off. They would then move from base to base, completing the obstacles while teachers pelted the children with paint and water cannons. The reward for their hard work and focus during the term two exams doubled as a fundraising initiative for the school.

The first base closest to the school building was a high-intensity training-style tyre run which led to a low-hanging net forcing the learners to leopard crawl through the mesh. Staff used hurdles to create a maze which, after a checkpoint featuring a free handful of paint to the body, led to a balancing obstacle made from benches. The final point in the pentagon of playful pain was a gauntlet of eager staff using water canons to get the colours running.

“The learners have been so busy with exams that we felt we would give them a chance to unwind a little. Every day we would see them sitting still during break studying hard so this was the perfect release,” said organiser and teacher, Mrs Leigh Todd. The ecstasy was evident on the faces of the young obstacle runners but the true joy is the upcoming three weeks of holiday bliss.
