Courier truck robbers get nabbed after car chase
Local security companies along with the police ensured that the robbers were caught.
A high-speed car chase between a suspicious vehicle and various security companies ended with two courier delivery truck robbers brought to justice.
On the afternoon of June 2, Help24’s Tactical Response Unit reacted to a ‘BOLO’ issued by the police regarding a charcoal Volkswagen that was tied to multiple courier delivery vehicle robberies in the West Rand policing district.
“One of our high-speed tactical response unit members confirmed a visual on the vehicle and followed them along Galena Street in Helderkruin,” explained Sheldon Grobler from Help24.
Grobler continued, stating that his driver noticed the vehicle start to drive recklessly and the chase ensued.
“Fidelity’s Specialised Intervention Unit and EC Security units soon joined our team in an attempt to stop the robbers from escaping,” added Grobler, “after a high-speed chase, the robbers rammed into our high-speed unit, resulting in another vehicle sustaining damage from the impact, thereafter the robbers lost control of their vehicle and crashed into a tree.”
Grobler confirmed that both suspects were arrested by the police and the stolen stock from the courier vehicles was recovered.
