Witpoortjie resident shows off her baking skills on reality show competition
A local baker has been chosen as one of the finalists for The Taste Master SA.
Palesa Modipa is one of the top 12 finalists for the reality TV show, The Taste Master SA.
Palesa contributes her position as a finalist to the originality behind her audition, she explained instead of baking in the kitchen she was at camp and sent her audition video from there.
She added that she hopes she will be able to win the competition and that would be the start that brings her closer to her dream of owning a big bakery and confectionery, and gaining experience and knowledge and learning through the competition as well.
On June 5, Palesa left for Cape Town, where she is going to compete in the show with others and every week someone will get eliminated until only one winner remains.
“I’m feeling nervous and excited at the same time. I’m happy to showcase my baking skills and also learn from others and meet amazing people and also the amazing judges,” noted Palesa.
Her journey with baking is one she has been on since she can remember, and she explained that she always baked for fun, until varsity when she began baking for her friends and realised she wanted to make this her life’s dream.
Her one piece of advice for prospering bakers is, “Be open-minded and be willing to learn all the time. You can never know enough, learning is very important.”
The show airs from June 13 at 19:00 on SABC 2.
