How to replace your Pickitup bins

What you need to know to replace your Pickitup bins.

Residents have shown concern regarding what to do to have their refuse bins replaced.
According to Ward 84, Councillor Johannes Goosen the process to have your bin replaced by a Pickitup bin comprises four steps:

1) If you don’t have a bin at your home (ie, a newly built or purchased property with no bin) you can apply for one for free from Pikitup.

2) If you want a second bin or more bins, you can purchase it from Pikitup. You will receive a reference number once payment has been made. You can either collect directly from the Depot or Pikitup will arrange to deliver the new bin to your premises.

3) If your bin has been stolen or gone missing, you can get one free bin replacement if you provide Pikitup with an affidavit or case number obtained from your local police station or you can pay for a replacement bin.

4) If your bin is broken or damaged, you will then receive a free bin provided that the broken one is returned to the Pikitup Depot.

To order your new bin contact Pikitup on call centre number 087 357 1068. Once you have received your reference number, you can contact the customer support office on 087 357 1667 to follow up on your request. The Pikitup Depot is at No 6 Granville Avenue, Roodepoort.

Goosen further stated, “Should you have any further issues once you’ve followed the process, then you are welcome to contact me directly on 082 744 4241 or email me at Johannesg@joburg.org.za.”

Ward 83 Councillor Florence Roberts added:

If it has been stolen, then you should first visit your nearest police station (Roodepoort) and report it. You will need to provide the case number when calling the COJ call centre.

If you need to pay for the bin(s), you need to go to your Regional Walk-In Centre (Ward 134 at 100 Christiaan De Wet Road, Florida) with the reference number and a copy of your municipal bill.

If you haven’t received your bin after 10 days please text Roberts on 082 414 9735 with the following information:
– Name
– Cell/ contact number
– Address
– Ref number
– Attach a copy of the receipt if you have paid for a bin.
