Help reunite the Myburgh family with their beloved Woody

The family has offered a R1000 reward for the safe return of Woody.

Most pet owners would call their fur babies their unofficial ’emotional support animals’, this is no different for Michelle Myburgh and her mom Hester when it comes to their pets.

One bird in particular, a seven-month-old green Indian ringneck named Woody, has burrowed himself deep in the family’s heart. Unfortunately, Woody has gone missing during the evening of March 16 and Michelle and her mom are heartbroken.

“We aren’t completely sure exactly how Woody got out, but we heard a door slam last night [March 16] and when we went to look for Woody he was missing,” elaborated Michelle. “He is such a sweet, tame, and friendly bird – I wouldn’t be surprised if someone saw him and picked him up,” explained Michelle.

The family is desperate to get Woody back and has called all the nearby animal clinics, the SPCA, and bird sanctuaries and even got hold of 911 Parrot Alert, which is an international database for lost and found birds, to no avail.

“I’ve posted on our community groups, handed out flyers, and even walked around the neighbourhood in search of our dear Woody. We are appealing to the community if they have seen or picked up a bird that matches Woody’s description to please contact us so we can be reunited,” begged Michelle.
