Operation O Kae Molao yields results in Roodepoort

The suspects arrested during the operation appeared in the Randburg, Kagiso, and Roodepoort Magistrates' Courts.

The Gauteng Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Elias Mawela was recently joined by senior management of the police and other law enforcement agencies as he led the multidisciplinary Operation O Kae Molao in Roodepoort on Saturday, February 4.

The operation was aimed at stamping the authority of the state and assisting the local police station with the reduction of crime.

The Johannesburg West, comprising of eight police stations including Diepsloot, Douglasdale, Cosmo City, Florida, Honeydew, Linden, Randburg and Roodepoort, arrested suspects for various crimes over the weekend.

54 Arrests were made for offences ranging from malicious damage to property, assault GBH, assault common under domestic violence, possession of drugs, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, possession of an unlicensed firearm; housebreaking and theft, drunk driving, possession of stolen goods, selling liquor without a licence, possession of housebreaking implements, shoplifting and intimidation as well as for dealing in dagga.

Mawela together with Major General Tommy Mthombeni, and Major General Max Masha led the operation that was conducted in Roodepoort.

The operation was aimed to search for drugs, enforcing the road traffic act and stolen goods, three shebeens were closed, 47 traffic fines were issued and 153 suspects were for Illegal Immigrants, possession of stolen items, possession of precious metals, dealing in drugs, Intimidation and extortion.
