Curro Academy Wilgeheuwel raises a glass to the Class of 2022

Tejal Hansrajh is their top achiever with six distinctions.

Curro Academy Wilgehuewel held a farewell toast to their Class of 2022 on January 20.

The school celebrated a 97% pass rate with a commendable 82 distinctions and 92.7% of the learners qualifying to study a bachelors degree. Head of High School, Belinda Gibson, heaped praise on the outgoing class, stressing how they had overcome a very unique set of circumstances. This set of matrics began their senior phase under a global health crisis cloud which would force them into online classes and a fractured learning experience. The top achiever for 2022 was Tejal Hansrajh who achieved six distinctions. Tejal scored distinctions in English, Afrikaans, Life Orientation, Life Sciences, History and Geography.

“Thank you Class of 2022 for giving your best. We celebrate this great accomplishment with every single one of you. The tenacity, focus, hard work and dedication that you have shown over the last few years laid the foundation for many spectacular achievements in the future. We’ll continue to keep an eye on you all and celebrate those successes with you too,” says Oriol Morgan, Executive Head at Curro Academy Wilgeheuwel.

“It mostly comes from the people around me. I am very lucky to have a very strong support structure,” said Tejal when asked what helped on path to success.

Reminiscing on her time shared with her classmates, the astute learner said, “I’ll always remember how close matric made us. We really came together to help one another. Planning on studying law at the University of Witwatersrand, the future legal eagle gave a final word of thanks to Curro, saying, “Thank you for all the motivation and encouragement over the years. You were always there for us, emotionally and physically.”
