Excited Grade 1’s talk about starting school

The Record spoke to a few young and excited learners at Laerskool Die Ruiter who were attending an orientation session at their new school.

Most schools such Laerskool Die Ruiter have an orientation session before school starts to familiarise parents and their child with the school, their classroom and their teacher.

On Tuesday, January 10, Grade 1 learners reached a significant milestone as they began their school journey accompanied by their parents, who struggled to forget the old image of crying children in oversized uniforms carrying little brown cardboard suitcases.

Excited and proud parents took notes at the session so they can remember everything and support their child when being asked questions.

Parents were also reminded to not be afraid to ask questions as at time teachers can leave out important details because they are so familiar to them.
