Florida Park — On Saturday, November 19 the Florida Block Watch (FBW) hosted their third annual clean-up at the Len Rutter Park.
According to FBW Chairperson, John Kirsten the project was arranged by the FBW committee and members within the community. On this day community members gathered at the park from 07:30 and happily dedicated their Saturday morning to beautifying the versatile stretch of land.
“These clean-ups are very necessary as the vagrants need to be removed from the park and all the litter left behind too. It is our responsibility to keep our parks clean and beautiful,” John said.
In efforts of supporting the initiative City Parks, Florida Police, Pikitup, the KCCC Rehabilitation Centre, the Centre of Hope and Strength, Leandra Realestate, Help24, EC Security, Rubberall, Blazing Grill and AfriForum all assembled at the park and offered their assistance.
“The clean-up was a great success. Once the rubbish was piled, everyone that came out was able to sit down and break bread together,” John said.
The FBW would like to thank John for always trying to uplift the community through various initiatives as well Wim Schonfeldt for tackling matters heads on and being the driving force at the clean up.
They also commended each person who took the time out of their weekend to assist in the worthy cause.
