Melissa aims to show girls that they can do anything they put their mind to

Melissa holds an honours degree in Industrial Psychology and is currently pursuing studies in Neuropsychology.

Melissa Wille, a 37-year-old mother of two, entered Mrs Universe South Africa, her first beauty pageant.

“I actively try to live every day by constantly trying new things,” Melissa explained when asked why she decided to enter the pageant. “I am a wife and a full-time working mother with two small boys, ages 5 and 9,” Melissa explained.

“My favourite pastime is spending quality time with my family. Entering Mrs Universe South Africa was a complete surprise to me because pageantry isn’t something I’ve ever done before,” Melissa added.

“You always hear people talk about having a ‘bucket list’ of things they want to do before turning 40. Well, I guess you could say that this was one of my bucket list items that I wanted to challenge myself with,” Melissa explained. Pageantry gives us a platform to share our knowledge and experiences with women. I see it as an opportunity to grow as a person, to become the best mother, wife, and woman I can be.

“Working mothers often put their dreams on hold due to family obligations and the desire to prioritise our loved ones. I embarked on this journey to encourage and remind other women that it is possible.”

If Melissa won, she would thank God for giving her this opportunity to grow into a woman who can be an inspiration to others.

“I am deeply committed to making a positive difference in our country’s youth development and the impact that unfortunate events such as broken homes and abandoned babies have on our youth and society; as a mother, I understand how important it is for a child to have security, family, stability, and love.
“I would use the platform provided to focus on being a voice for those who cannot speak for themselves, such as those who come from broken homes, abandoned children, and babies, in order to create opportunities for them to become active members of society.”
