Witpoortjie Flea Market aimed at assisting the community

“I wanted to make a difference and decided on starting the market to assist our community in being independent and building their small businesses.”

Flea markets are important to many communities because of the memories that are made there, they are also good getaway places to enjoy with family and friends.

The Witpoortjie Community Flea Market is open every first and second Saturday of each month at the Flower Foundation in 36 Reyger Street, Witpoortjie from 8am till 1pm.

A variety of stalls selling food, fresh produce, toys, clothing, jewellery, home and outdoor, Tupperware and many more are available.

The organiser of the Witpoortjie Community Flea Market, Roxanne Premchund told the Record that her journey with the market started in 2018, being an active part of our community and after noticing some struggling families.

“I wanted to make a difference and decided on starting the market to assist our community in being independent and building their small businesses,” said Roxanne.

After showcasing various items in different venues, the market was given the opportunity by The Flower Foundation to utilise a space on their grounds at Zonneveld in Witpoortjie.

“We are extremely grateful for their participation in our community, our market will run every first and second week of each month. We would appreciate the support of our community to support our local businesses and struggling entrepreneurs,” added Raxanne.

The Witpoortjie Community Flea Market will be showcasing a variety of stalls, members of the community who would like to book for their stalls are advised to contact Roxanne on 084 207 6549.
