A fatal accident claimed the life of a pedestrian in Roodepoort on Saturday, October 22.
The accident occurred at about 15:25 along Randfontein Road near Nick Toomey Boulevard, involving a maroon Volkswagen Polo and a pedestrian.
From the information received from Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) it’s alleged that the driver of the vehicle was travelling in an eastern direction along Randfontein Road when the pedestrian ran across the roadway in front of the vehicle.
“The male driver of the vehicle sustained no injuries but unfortunately, the 25-year-old male pedestrian sustained fatal injuries and was taken to the Roodepoort Mortuary,” said JMPD Spokesperson Xolani Fihla.
A case of culpable homicide has been opened at the Roodepoort police station for further investigation.
