A mother’s love knows no bounds

Susan describes her book as "incredibly personal" and "close to my heart".

Susan Moyo, a local author, was inspired to write her first novel, The Love of a Mother, out of pure and unconditional love.

Susan stated that her mother encouraged her to write.

“My mother was an incredible woman, she taught me everything I know about life and the fact that I was her only child, she brought me up with so much love, understanding, and empathy, her love for me and her granddaughters was pure, it was not attached to anything – just pure love, she loved me with everything she had and everything she was,” Susan elaborated.

With her mother’s love and her life experiences, Susan has grown into a beautiful woman. Susan continued, “Despite growing up in poverty, I persevered to study and graduated with an honours degree in psychology and human behaviour, a relationship coaching diploma, an HIV and Aids Advanced certificate, as well as a Social Science advanced certificate. I was born in Soweto but grew up in Thokoza Township in the East Rand.”

She spent many years working abroad, but she returned to South Africa to be with her family.

“There is no place like home, and I missed South Africa. I have two wonderful daughters and am married to a wonderful man. I’m currently employed by one of Ruimsig’s best private schools.”
Susan is currently working on her second book, The Broken Arrow, which is “based on a true story about a couple that went to incredible extremes to rescue their failing relationship”.

Susan used the process of writing her first book to get over the death of her mother. “I wrote this book in three months, and it took nearly two years to publish. It was a very challenging journey that gave me the strength and healing I needed,” Susan added. She continues by stating that her counsel to anyone going through a trying time in their lives is to “Keep your dream close to your heart and live according to it. The tale you’ll be sharing is your own; never, ever give up, is the moral of the story. Love yourself, the universe, and others first because you cannot give what you do not have.”.

Her book is available on Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, and she also sells physical and signed copies for R200. To order one, send her an email at susanmoyo217@gmail.com.
