RLT’s Nikki shares her dreams for the group

"RLT gave me the opportunity to do some acting and dancing on stage."

Many have found refuge and friendship in the arms of theatre and arts, and Nichola Forbes, 51, from Wilgeheuwel, is one of those who proudly advocates for the joys of joining a group of like-minded people – the Roodepoort Little Theatre (RLT).

Nichola’s love of the theatre began in her childhood, when her mother made sure the family went to the theatre on a regular basis. “From then on, I was hooked. I used to be a dancer who began by performing in shows and worked my way up,” Nichola elaborated.

Nichola goes on to say that she was a member of several Amateur Dramatic Societies for about 10 years.

“RLT gave me the opportunity to do some acting and dancing on stage.” Nichola has many fond memories of the RLT, including an RLT improv show that made her laugh out loud. “It brought back memories of how much I enjoyed theatre.”

She was a member of the RLT in the 1990s before rejoining in 2019 and remaining a member ever since.

Nichola wants to learn more about stage lighting and would like to use what she learns on future RLT shows.
“I would like to see our membership grow, with more people joining our theatre family; it would also be great to have a larger backstage crew,” Nichola added.

Nichola believes that no matter what dreams or goals you have in life, you should always follow your heart.
